Born in Tasmania, Barry the Brave is about showing what can happen when ordinary people choose to stand up together — being brave for those who don’t get the choice.

Barry the Brave is a Tasmanian tiger on wheels.Born in Tasmania, Barry represents the spirit of a place known for resilience, community, and quietly getting on with what needs to be done. The Tasmanian tiger is a symbol of strength and loss, and Barry carries that meaning forward with purpose. The stripes on Barry are not decoration. Each stripe represents someone impacted by cancer, loved, lost, or still fighting. Names, stories, and lives carried with us wherever we go.Barry exists to be brave for those who do not get the choice. To show that bravery is not always loud. Sometimes it is simply showing up. Sometimes it is continuing on when life demands it. And sometimes it is choosing to stand beside someone else and say you are not alone. This is a story about small actions and collective heart. About what can happen when ordinary people come together and decide that even the smallest effort matters.
Barry the Brave is currently running a major national fundraiser featuring a double pass to Australia’s only Foo Fighters show, plus accommodation in Launceston. This campaign is raising funds for cancer research through the Cancer Council and is part of our broader mission to turn community driven ideas into real impact.Everything we do is grassroots, transparent, and driven by people who believe small actions can create meaningful change.

In the 2025 Spring Shitbox Rally, Barry the Brave helped raise $67,081 for cancer research through the Cancer Council. What started as a single idea grew into a statewide community effort. Local businesses, families, friends, and strangers came together to support something bigger than themselves. This wasn’t driven by marketing budgets or big organisations. It was powered by conversations, shared stories, donated time, and people choosing to show up.That result proved what we had always believed. When small actions are taken collectively, the impact can be extraordinary.• $67,081 raised for cancer research
